Keep An Open Mind

Richard Carlson wrote about coping strategies to get along in the world, suggesting that people ought to approach life with good humor, positive thinking and perspective.

This is a great attitude to adopt when living with an uncertain and progressive disease like multiple sclerosis. You never know when the next 'shoe is going to drop' in the form of an attack leaving you with new symptoms.  This situation produces an undercurrent of fear and trepidation.

Yet some people thrive in spite of their being diagnosed with m.s. and that gives hope to others with the same disease.  It is important to learn about any lifestyle adjustments that can slow the progression of the disease.  Your neurologist will have his bag of tricks involving the latest drugs found to be effective.  Alternative and complimentary approaches add another set of arrows to your quiver, in the battle to remain ambulatory.

Stay positive and willing to investigate ideas that appeal to your common sense while avoiding quackery ..........
