Blogger Preface: Depression is common with multiple sclerosis that can have symptoms that do not go away because it is a chronic progressive disease with no cure and no effective treatments. We all learned this on the day we we give our diagnosis or there about. It is a dire prognostication and it is up to the individual to find ways to live with this situation and to remain positive. We are not our disease and it is important to focus on what we have and not what we have lost to the disease. Fear about the future is paralyzing and needs to be minimized gaining control of your thought processes and mindfulness meditation really helps with this when you combine it with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques of psychiatrists offered by Aaron Beck . Beck influenced another of my favorite writers, Martin Seligman who is also a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and teaches Positive Psychology which is the subject of my blog called Positive Psychology:

My intention with Fawlty Wiring is to promote the positive thinking methods to fight the depressing disease of m.s. and work around shortcoming to continue to thrive as best we can. My S.P.M.S. is particularly embarrassing for my Neurologist who told me he has no drugs or treatments that can address my condition but he "wants to stay in touch in the event of some miracle happening".
Doctors resent an illness where they can't write out a script and tell you to "take these and rest in bed and you'll be o.k.".
We need to tell ourselves we will be o.k. even with m.s. and all the complications it imposes on our lives!
