Sleep Interrupted

For months, I've been weak and in intense pain that makes sleep difficult.

Combining multiple sclerosis nerve damage with old injuries creates some novel pain and restless leg syndrome limits sleep and causes a kind of bone numbing exhaustion.

MS requires rest and sleep or you will suffer more than need be.  So you see the frustration it can cause having sleep interrupted.

Generally, talking about ms is pointless because there are no effective treatments, it sounds like whining and complaining to try explaining what symptoms accrue with a chronic, progressive disease with no cure.

It gets depressing to talk about and I grew up wanting to be strong so being sick is a form of failure.

Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness.

I wish I could show you
When you are lonely or in darkness
The astonishing light of your own being!

Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness.
If, in our heart, we still cling to anything - anger, anxiety, or possessions - we cannot be free.

Thich Nhat Hanh

One moment at a time Enjoy the good stuff Breathe through the hard stuff New moments and days are coming.

Otis Spann - Trouble In Mind

Thinking about the death and destruction in Australia is giving me PTSD.

I'm thinking a digital detox is something that could calm my troubled mind... turn off the news for a few days.

Otis Redding - Cigarettes And Coffee

Otis Redding - Cigarettes And Coffee - YouTube
https://www.youtube.com › watch

Lyrics

It's early in the morning

About a quarter till three

I'm sittin' here talkin' with my baby

Over cigarettes and coffee, now

And to tell you that

Darling I've been so satisfied

Honey since I met you

Baby since I met you, ooh

All the places that I've been around

And all the good looking girls I've met

They just don't seem to fit in

Knowing this particularly sad, yeah

But it seemed so natural, darling

That you and I are here

Just talking over cigarettes and drinking coffee, ooh now

And whole my heart cries out

Love at last I've found you, ooh now

And honey won't you let me

Just be my whole life around you

And while I complete, I complete my whole life would be, yeah

If you would take things under consideration

And walk down this hour with me

And I would love it, yeah

People I say it's so early in the morning

Oh, it's a quarter till three

We're sittin' here talkin'

Over cigarettes and drinking coffee, now, lord

And I'll like to show you, well

I've known nothing but good old joy

Since I met you, darling

Honey since I've met you, baby yeah

I would love to have another drink of coffee, now

And please, darling, help me smoke this one more cigarette, now

I don't want no cream and sugar

Cause I've got you, now darling

But just let me enjoy

Help me to enjoy

This good time that we'll have, baby

It's so early, so early in the morning

So early, so early in the morning

And I've got you

And you've got me

And we'll have each other

And we don't, we don't want nothing but joy, y'all

Nothing but joy

We cultivate Hope

Hans-Georg Gadamer (1900-2002)
In his 102nd year, [humanist philosopher Hans-Georg] Gadamer was asked for his reaction to the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. He answered in German, “Es ist mir recht unheimlich geworden,” Meaning that the world had become strange, even uncanny, to him. He went on to add that “people cannot live without hope; that is the only thesis I would defend without any restriction.” Yet, when his pupil and successor Dieter Henrich visited him for the last time in Heidelberg, he repeated that one cannot live without hope, but added that this hope had become this small, and he raised his hand and showed the tiny gap of light between his thumb and index finger.

SERENITY PRAYER ADAPTED FOR ADD

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;

The insight to prioritize wisely what I want to change;

The patience to resist trying to control everything I could, had I the energy and time;

The courage and skill to change the things I have chosen to change;

And the wisdom to know the differences among all these.

Multiple Sclerosis

Working around S.P.M.S. and living well is the primary topic of this blog.

My observations by a non-scientist about the fast growing science of the brain will be discussed. M.S. is subject to plenty of research and scientists may find a cure in the next decade.

Meantime, we need to keep our spirits up and take whatever individual actions we can take to keep ourselves physically healthy and engaged in meaningful activities.
