What are some practical lifestyle changes you can make?
Dean Ornish talks nutrition, health and lifestyle changes
on 'The Gavin Newsom Show':
The choices we make today affect our life in the future. During Friday night's episode of "The Gavin Newsom Show," Preventive Medicine Research Institute founder and President Dean Ornish says up to 75 percent of health care costs could be mitigated by diet and lifestyle changes. That would cut Medicare and Medicaid costs, which would go a long way toward reducing the deficit.
Ornish said even climate change can be affected by a dietary adjustment: Meat products take 10 times more resources to go from the farm to your table than plant-based products. Lowering meat consumption "can change the planet itself," Ornish said.
So think about your daily routine. What are you, or could you be, doing to be healthier and ultimately wealthier?
