Toronto’s vanishing grow-ops fall victim to pot economics | Globalnews.ca

Toronto police are busting fewer grow-ops – down about two-thirds since 2010: That year, police found 245 marijuana grow houses, compared to just 87 last year.

And defence lawyer Peter Zaduk links the change to pot prices in the United States falling “very drastically,” which over the past few years has wrecked Canada’s marijuana exports.

Meantime, Canada’s losing its technological advantage.

“It used to be that Canada was far ahead of the United States in terms of our hydroponic marijuana industry, and much of the Canadian product was exported to the United States. But in the last five years, production methods from Canada have been copied in the United States, so they now have a very much greater domestic marijuana industry.”

It’s having a serious impact on Zaduk’s business.

Medical Marijuana Pill May Ease MS Symptoms | Medical News and Health Information

"The guideline looked at unconventional therapies used in addition to or instead of doctor-recommended therapies, and found that certain forms of medical marijuana, in pill or oral spray, may help reduce patients’ spasticity, pain due to spasticity, and frequent urination, but not loss of bladder control. Long-term safety of medical marijuana use in pill or oral spray is unknown. Most of the studies are short, lasting six to 15 weeks.

Medical marijuana in pill or oral spray may cause side effects such as seizures, dizziness, thinking and memory problems, and depression.

“Using different CAM therapies is common in 33 to 80 percent of people with MS, particularly those who are female, have higher education levels and report poorer health,” guideline lead author Vijayshree Yadav, MD, MCR, with Oregon Health & Science University in Portland and a member of the American Academy of Neurology, was quoted as saying. “People with MS should let their doctors know what types of these therapies they are taking, or thinking about taking.”

Attitude

When something of an affliction happens to you, you either let it defeat you, or you defeat it.

- Rousseau

Or you learn to work around the obstacle, if it is an incurable disease like M.S. that is ongoing and causes systematically more disability.

It is important to take an attitude of adapting and thriving in spite of the disease.

Leave the cure to the scientists and manage your life with the attitude that you can deal with the problems created by the disease.

You will probably need to give up some activities, like the balance beam (LOL) and other athletic pursuits that require balance, strength or require being on your feet for too long.

Focus on what you can still do and not on what you have lost.
